August 17, 2016
On August 16, the U.S. Department of Education released an official notice announcing the Educational Opportunity Center applicants who received awards on the first slate. A total of 376 eligible applications for new grant awards were submitted and 143 applications were recommended for funding at a minimum score of 107.67 or higher. The Department has also issued notices to applicants who are in the "funding band" and, as such, are eligible for a second review of their applications.
COE is currently collecting as much information as possible so as to provide the most accurate advice to all applicants. If you have received notification that your application falls within the "funding band" only please notify COE staff member Krysti Specht via e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone at (202) 347-7430. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the grant competition, please contact Angelica Vialpando at (email@example.com).
COE will host a conference call for applicants in the funding band ONLY on Monday, August 22 at 4:00 p.m. (Eastern). Please RSVP for this call to Krysti Specht. COE will host another conference call for applicants who have not heard anything regarding their application status later that same week (details to be announced). To participate in either call, please dial 1-800-747-5150 and use Access Code 1663634.
